High Priestess Zel is the current leader of The Divided Alliance. Her grandparents were young when they were forced to flee their desert home to the south and relocate to The Empty Plains. When she was young, Zel got lost in the Plains and came close to death before she was found. The visions she had while wandering awoke a fear and respect for higher power and led to her apprenticing under High Priestess Yara. When Yara passed away, Zel took over her position as High Priestess of the Sand Nomads. Zel's parents had become involved in Alliance politics and they felt the Alliance needed someone strong in both body and spirit to take over leadership. After many attempts to convince Zel, she finally conceded when she witnessed a fight break out between two Sand Nomad groups with multiple fatalities and the poor handling afterwards of the previous Alliance leader. Zel was made the leader of the Alliance with a unanimous vote after a passionate speech in front of the council. She is well respected by all of the Alliance groups for her calm logic and quiet strength.
