The Divided Alliance is a alliance of many groups of people who have been displaced from their homelands due to natural or magical catastrophes. With their homelands uninhabitable, they moved to the large, west of Vencea. After a period of on-and-off fighting, the groups decided it would be best to unite under a single leader to protect themselves from the surrounding powers. Each group sends representatives to a regular council to help in the running of the Alliance.

There are five major groups that make up the alliance:

The Sand Nomads - Originally from a large desert to the south, the Sand Nomads were forced to leave when a magical accident froze the desert and made it mostly uninhabitable. High Priestess Zel is from the Sand Nomads.

The Islanders - A major earthquake sank the Islanders homes into the sea. Only a small number escaped on their boats and made their way onto the Empty Plains. They tend to like taking positions as guards and warriors as it fits their strong, aggressive lifestyles.

The Northfolk - The Northfolk sailed and explored the Northern Seas for hundreds of years. In their exploration they awoke vicious sea creatures who attacked their homes and made the seas un-sailable. As a result, they began exploring seas further south. The earthquake that sank the Islanders homes also stranded the Northfolk and they eventually followed the paths of the Islanders inland and joined the Alliance.

The Mountaineers - A large range of mountains borders the Empty Plains to the north and is home to the Mountaineers. The Mountaineers live in small groups in the mountains and are adept hunters and trackers. They are the only group in the Alliance who still live mostly in their homeland, but some have moved down onto the plains after deciding to join.

The Subdwellers - The Subdwellers live in tunnels and caves below the Empty Plane. They haven't revealed much about themselves or their origins to the rest of the Alliance, but because of their hard work and kind demeanor they were welcomed immediately when they asked to join.
